I wanted to blog something profound about being a new mother, but we're playing pass the baby and my turn is coming up.
I love my son. He is really cool! And isn't he beautiful!?!?!?
I am very tired and I have never been more humbled.
So, let me start by saying that I have a whole new admiration for each and every one of my friends and family who have children. I had no idea!
AND THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR EVERYONE'S GENEROSITY OVER THE PAST 2 MONTHS!!!! ONE OF THE SURPRISING WONDERS OF THIS TIME HAS BEEN THE REALIZATION OF HOW MANY WONDERFUL PEOPLE WE HAVE IN OUR LIVES. THE OUTPOURING OF WELL WISHES, EXPERIENTIAL ADVICE AND GIFTS HAVE BEEN AMAZING TO NATHAN AND ME.
My favorite times are when Graham:
- stops wiggling from hunger and tummy bubbles and falls asleep on my chest.
- lays still and watches something inane with fascination, like the bedroom ceiling fan.
- belches without spitting up.
- turns quiet when he hears his dad's voice when he first walks in the door.
- is in the sunlight and his hair turns bright red.
- shows the sleepy smile.
Graham's big accomplishments (everyone knock on wood that I don't jinx us!):
- sleeping at night right after eating
- peeing as he's being changed requiring multiple wardrobe changes
- keeping his hands out of his mouth when he wants to eat
- rolling over - determined to be a fluke
- hanging out with his grandparents
