Ok, so this one has been hard to gauge timewise. I know that G has been able to sit on his own for some time now, but he refuses to do it. In fact, the other day at music class I put him on the floor sitting while the teacher played the guitar and he sat for about a minute watching and listening. As soon as he moved, though, he stretched himself out and that was the end of sitting for class. Then it became the usual rolling, standing, jumping workout for both of us. Should one be sweating in music class, by the way?
So this morning I sat him on the floor with a newly introduced toy that stands a little higher than the usual. He sat for a good 3-4 minutes with it and actually cracked a smile about it. I put the Boppy behind him and when he stretched out, he tried to sit himself back up. With a little help from mom he kept playing for about 5 minutes. I didn't want him to get frustrated while sitting, so before he started whining I removed the Boppy and he got back to playing on his belly. I am really looking forward to him being able to sit up and play on his own. That will really open up the things that he can do. Time to get some new sit up toys!!
