So, let me tell you the saga of getting G ready to go out in the snow. He went to the back door showing an interest in going outside, so I thought what the hell. I pulled out all his gear - boots, snow pants, coat, hat, and mittens. It took me 10 minutes just to get him to stop running from me, so I could put on his boots. Of course, when I tried to put the pants on, they didn't fit over the boots. So, the boots came off and the pants went on. Then the boots went on again - well kinda. Once we were outside, I realized that one of his feet wasn't completely in the shoe. Those boot heels are tight! It was nearly impossible to get his chunky foot in there without twisting his ankle. Ok, so the pants and boots are on. The rest is easy, right? Well, G hasn't liked his hands restricted since he was born. So the oversized mittens didn't go over well and resulted in two minutes of intense shrieking. The mittens came off and I put his coat on. All in all, prep time took about 25 minutes.
I grabbed some other non-waterproof mittens, put them in my pocket, and opened the door. He whined and closed the door three times. He didn't want to go out. I was like Oh no, we're going out! I picked him up and we went outside. Once we were outside, he stood on the patio for a couple of minutes while I threw some snow around. He kinda got it and walked out into the snow and started playing. That is the video below. As if I haven't had this camera for a while, I made the mistake of turning the camera to catch the video. Now I have no way of rotating it the right way. I'm an idiot, but hopefully you can get past that and enjoy the video.
By the way, directly after this video, G only wanted me to carry him. Every time I tried to put him down, he cried. After about 7 minutes of snow-filled fun, we were back in the house eating Pirate's Booty.
He'll get used to it. Hopefully, in a couple of weeks, we'll be making snow angels and throwing snowballs
