Halloween was a Hit!!!

This is the first year that we are really pulling out all the stops for the holidays. And let me just say that Halloween is gonna be one of G's favorites. The whole thing started under a veil of caution. It was raining at Great Grandma's house, so it looked like we might have to stay in all night. But around 5:30 there was a break in the rain. G reluctantly got his costume on. We forewent the mask in an attempt to avoid all meltdowns. I snuck in a few photos and then we set out. We were babysitting Graham's second cousin, Andrew, so he, Grandma and "Tipper the Pirate" (AKA Grandma's terrier) came along. With much coercion, Graham went to the first house, looking at Dad like Are you crazy!??!?! We can't just walk up to random people's houses and talk to them! So the ensuing exchange went something like this:

Nathan: Say trick or treat.
Graham: (in whispered tone) Trick or treat???
Nathan: Ok, hold out your pumpkin.
(neighbor puts in candy)
(Graham's eyes open widely)
Nathan: Say, thank you.
Graham: Thank you! (turn to the yard) Momma, momma, look! (holding up pumpkin basket) I got these!
Nathan: Say Happy Halloween
Graham: Thank you Halloween

After that, it was a calculated trek to all houses on the block with lights on. We all had fun and we can't wait for next year.
