A few weeks before Christmas, Graham started showing an interest in the alphabet. He loved to dance to the alphabet song and he was starting to sing a few letters here and there. Then he started pointing out letters on his wooden blocks. We were pretty impressed since we hadn't taught them to him, and, when I asked at daycare, Ms. Rose said she hadn't been working on them either. We figure he was picking it up from Sesame Street and Super Why. So, we started talking about the letters on his blocks and he was really enjoying learning them. By Christmas, I would say that he had 75% of his letters and numbers down. The resounding hit gift at Christmas was this box of letters and words cards that my mom got him. When we open the box, he goes, "Wow!" and then starts going through them one by one. As of today he can do the whole alphabet and all his numbers. He can sing most of the alphabet song and he can count to 15. At daycare, Ms. Rose says she lets him lead the alphabet and counting with the other kids. Some kids are into Thomas and some kids are into trucks; Graham is into his letters and numbers. We're really amazed at how much he is learning all the time.

Next comes limericks!
I love how he keeps repeating it over and over until he gets confirmation from you, even going so far as to thrust the letter at you until you say something. Kids that age are desperate to know that they've gotten things right.
I'm just glad that he has enough confidence in me to think that I'd know the answer. Sometimes I think he's given me the "Watchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis" look.
