Graham and Warren - Similarities and Differences

I want to capture these before I forget them. These are the similarities and differences that I see between our boys. I know that everyone says that you can't compare your children, but I enjoy getting my memory jogged about Graham back then by all the things that Warren is doing right now. It's kinda like a past time or something.

Similarity: They like food! They even make sounds when they eat to show their enjoyment.
Differences: 1. Graham ate anything and everything. Warren seems to have some discretion when it comes to how things taste. He has a preference for fruit and he gagged all over his avocados. 2. Graham was all business when it came to eating. He sat and ate/drank til it was ALL gone. Warren gets so distracted while he eats. He drinks a little, looks around, and drinks a little more or eats a little, looks around, and eats a little more.

Similarity: Their appearance can be very similar at times. They looked more alike as small infants. They have the same smile and chin. They are also... stocky children.
Differences: Graham had bright red hair as a baby. Warren has darker hair, especially in the back. In the sunlight you can definitely see the red in his hair, though. As unbelievable as it seems to me, Warren is definitely bigger than Graham was. Warren is in the 90th percentile for all his measurements. He is definitely taller than Graham was. In addition to doctor's measurements, we know this to be true because Warren wears two sizes ahead of his age while Graham only wore one size ahead of his age.

Differences: Graham took forever to fall asleep, but Warren falls asleep pretty easily. However, Graham slept through the night by 3 months old, and Warren STILL can't sleep through the night at 7 months. Sometimes he gets up once, sometimes he gets up twice, and sometimes he gets up and stays up for a while. He runs for stretches of getting up at certain times, but that routine can change at any time. He has even slept through the night a handful of times just to throw me off.

Similarity: They like toys that light up and make noise, especially that Baby Einstein toy with the different colored handles.
Differences: Graham liked small toys that he could get his hands around and make move in a particular way. Warren seems to like the biggest toy he can get his hands on, so he can bang it around.

These are probably the most obvious observations that I've made. I know that everything seems to be happening faster with Warren than it did with Graham - totally a perception thing. Also, I know that Warren seems a lot more predictable than Graham was. However, I think a big difference between the two boys is his parents. Trying not to state the obvious, I know that we have a little experience under our belts now. Weighing the hard work of getting a kid on a schedule with the benefits of the schedule, so far we have consciously done the bare minimum to keep Warren on a schedule. With a combination of establishing a good feeding and sleeping schedule right away and us just paying attention to his hungry/sleepy cues, Warren is on a fairly predictable schedule with pretty clear expression of his wants and needs.

It is fun to have memories of Graham sparked at random moments. I marvel at how the mind works as I marvel at how my kids are growing. Most times I am very patient with how Warren is developing and other times I wonder why every little development seems to be taking so long. It's been a lot of fun to see Graham and Warren grow together. They are so fond of each other and I hope I will experience that joy for a long time to come.

It's so great that you took the time to get this all documented. :-)
