Graham has joined the clan in his love of travel. He fared well on the plane. His only fit came when people kept butting in front of him in line for the bathroom. We made the best of it and changed him right in the seat. It was a trade off - one moment of heavy stank vs. a lingering stench of baby poop. Being the one who had the load in her lap, I opted for the first choice. I hope it was worth it to everyone else, too. He got many positive comments about his travel etiquette. We smiled through the sweat dripping from our brows. As always I celebrate each victory as it comes.
G had a great time at the Garrett Family Reunion. He enjoyed having everyone paying attention to him. He definitely kept everyone on their toes. The pool was a hit! Like his mom, he even fell asleep by the pool a couple of times. While he didn't make it down to the beach this year, he was calmed by swinging in the gazebo and taking in the view.
In two days, Graham will be 4 months old, if you can believe it. Here are his "news":
1) He is using his stomach and neck muscles to sit up without support. He still needs to be held, but he sits up without provocation.
2) He loves to stand up and sit down while in your lap. He can do this forever.
3) He sits forward in his stroller. We think he prefers this to the old way because he can see more.
4) He'll take his pacifier from time to time. Sometimes he'll even hold it in with the back of his hand.
5) He pushes up high on his hands when placed on his stomach - and he doesn't scream in anger every time!
6) He'll talk and sing to you or his toys. He is very purposeful in his tone and facial expression (In fact he is talking to himself in the mirror on his play mat as I type - so cute!)
7) He has found his hands and feet. He sticks his arms out in a "pop a wheelie" pose and stares at his hands.
8) He is just starting to use his exersaucer (that circular thing babies stand in the center of and the seat rotates so that they can play with different toys). He can only do it for about 10 minutes before he gets tired.
9) He loves his bath although he has started to leave some number twos in there. Still he shrieks, smiles and splashes the whole time.
10) He laughs this deep, guteral man-laugh when you tickle him or bounce him a certain way. He smiles like a champ every time you smile at him.
Graham greatly dislikes: loud noises, post bath time/pre bottle time, going to bed, being strapped into anything and dark rooms.
Our newest endeavor is trying soy formula. We're hoping this will stop some of the extreme fussy times that G has. (According to family he reminds them of their lactose intolerant little ones.) We are honing nap time as well. Either Graham is going to have to trim down, I will have to start taking roids to build my biceps or he's going to have to learn to go to sleep better on his own. Since I don't see his appetite waning and I don't want to jeopardize my professional baseball career, I think we'll be trying different techniques for sleep time.
Well, as you can see, G is changing all the time. How fun it all is!
