Graham is all personality these days. He laughs at everything - whether he truly finds it funny or thinks it merits a fake laugh. If I laugh at something he does, he repeats it over and over again. For example, one morning I was making a noise with my tongue while we looked in the mirror. As I held him, he leaned in front of my face and stared with his bright face at my mouth. I laughed so hard. Well, that was all it took. Now if I make noises or talk with someone in public, he leans forward to look at my mouth. And I still laugh!
He's beginning to understand the concept of you and me. One day when he was eating his Cheerios, I leaned forward and opened my mouth. After a few bites, he offered me one and I ate it. Now, whenever he eats finger food, he will be sure to offer me some - even the smooshy stuff. I will take one here or there, but mostly I just say thank you and tell him that he can have that one.
Animals have their biggest fan in Graham. If I ask Where are the birdies? he knows to look at the sky. If I say I see a kitty he looks down around my ankles. He laughs at every walking dog and every hopping bird. One of his favorite books is Petting Farm. He likes when I go through the first page and point to all the animals and say their names and make their noises.
Finally Graham is fascinated with other kids. He's got lots of friends that he plays with and he seems to be a good buddy so far. He doesn't dominate, but will play alongside and watch what the older kids can do. However, he keenly watches kids at the grocery store or at the park as well. Often he will try to talk to them. He'll make a high pitched Eh sound at them. He really wants to make friends!
Mr. Personality is about to turn one year old. So far he seems to be a social, happy, interested, and affectionate baby. These are all pretty good qualities that I hope he carries throughout his boyhood.
